PROFESSIONAL EDUCATIONAL DEVELOPMENT. How does one learn how to teach? – Through experiences analyzed in this book, in the countries of the OECD as much as in Latin America, and in spite of the great heterogeneity of contexts, a series of factors can be identified that act positively in the development of professional education. The educational policies of each country should identify objectives and orientations adapted to their own circumstances. Good policies are needed in order that development of professional education ensures the competencies that teachers and professors will require along their extensive professional trajectory. Society needs good teachers and professors whose professional practice responds to professional standards of quality, and that they comply in the first place with a basic commitment: that of respecting the right of students to learn.
