Letter, dated March 22, 1773 from the marqués de Castillejos in Cádiz, to Tomás de Anda y Salazar in Madrid concerning the finances and education of Bartolomé Solano, son of Juan Francisco Solano of Manila. The marqués has been informed by Solano of the arrival of his son, who will be under the guardianship of Anda and don Ignacio Balzola, or in their absence, of the marqués. Through his financial agents, Romero de Texada Hermanos, the marqués is sending Anda the 100 pesos fuertes he requested to cover Solanos travel expenses and the costs of maintaining him at the Colegio de Nobles. The marqués approves of Andas decision to enroll the Solano son in the seminary where he will receive an excellent education. If he applies himself, the boy will certainly succeed, given his character and integrity.
