Enrique Lihn: A Poetics Of Travel

Autores

Resumen del Libro

In its analysis of the later development of the poetic voice of Enrique Lihn and the function of the author in a postmodern society, this dissertation builds upon certain ideas laid out by Michel Foucault and Fredric Jameson. In particular, this study utilizes Oscar Galindos concept of the testimonial transcription to analyze Lihns Estacion de los desamparados (1982), written by the author during a sojourn in Lima Peru. In further interpreting this work and in conjunction with a reading of Lihns subsequent work, El Paseo Ahumada (1983)—a literary reenactment of Santiago de Chile under the dictatorship of Pinochet, this dissertation finally explores Lihns own theory of personal poetics: his notion of situated poetry.
