Changes Of The Mexican Identity And Globalization

Autores

Resumen del Libro

This work analyzes the changes that the Mexican identity has endured due to globalization and the different perspectives that Latin-American intellectuals shared about its effects. Essentially, the mass media and the weakening of the nationalistic politics have played a key role redefining lo mexicano . Literary works have also captured and reflected the influence of the global world experienced by Mexican citizens. The global forces have deteriorated the symbols and customs that unified the different social classes and the indigenous groups of Mexico thus expanding the segregation among them. The high and middle classes identify better with an international individual. In contrast, the lower class and indigenous groups have proclaimed an autonomous identity with no global influence. These cultural discrepancies have increased among the social classes and have further segregated the indigenous groups.
