The Maude Idris anchors in the Thames loaded with all type of valuable materials, like ebony and ivory, coming from Africa. That same afternoon, captain Clement Louvain leaves the surveillance of the ship and its load in charge of some armed sailors but, the following day, he finds out that the ivory has been stolen and one of the sailors has been murdered. Louvain will ask William Monk to investigate the case.
