This study goes beyond a formal description and esthetic analysis of house design in Mexico to offer an interpretation based on the complex network of economic, social, and cultural relations. Begins with an analysis of the indigenous home and lifestyle and continues into postrevolutionary, modern, and contemporary periods of historic transition, during which a new conception of urban space developed offering greater possibilities for individual expression.
