This uplifting story about seeing things in a new way teaches young readers that adapting to change can be exciting instead of unsettling. At the end of every summer, Andy has a hard time accepting that the days of play are over and that he must return to school—he thinks that the close of summer takes all of the good times with it, and he wishes that he could follow the sun like a bird. When he falls asleep beneath a tree, he dreams that Autumn visits him and shows him all of the beautiful things she brings—like sunsets that remind him of the colors in summertime. Andy realizes that he can remember his summer and still appreciate and welcome the fall.
