Soil Classification By Nehrp Guidelines Of The City Of Arecibo

This project is part of a research carried out for the Office of the Commissioner of Insurance of Puerto Rico. It consists of the creation of map of soil types zones for the city of Arecibo. These soil zones are classified using the NEHRP guidelines (National Earthquake Hazard Reduction Program). The creation of soil zones involves the recompilation and organization of information of the soils to be studied. For the soil type F, the evaluation is done applying the methodology proposed by Youd et. al. (2002) and combined with the Liquefaction Potential Index of Iwasakis et. al. (1982). The tools used for the organization of information and analysis of liquefaction are LicuadoPR and ARGIS 9.0 software. The soil classification map includes those soils type F susceptible to liquefaction.
