Resumen del Libro

This thesis examines divergences, motives and issues incorporated in current narrative styles that break away from the older feminine-figure-oriented work. This investigation was done with Gabriela Moras theory of literary criticism as its main reference, as presented in her essay Narradoras hispanoamericanas: Vieja y nueva problematica en renovadas elaboraciones. Moras theory was applied to three stories written by Olga Nolla and three other stories written by Miriam Gonzalez-Hernandez. On the one hand, Nollas narrative is presented in a traditional way, showing the first steps in breaking down female roles imposed by a patriarchal culture. On the other, in Gonzalez-Hernandezs narrative, through language and different perspectives, these roles are subverted by incorporating new issues and problems related with changes in the feminine environment.
