Resumen del Libro

With its 27 contributions, this volume presents most of the papers delivered at the XVe Colloque du Comite International de Paleographie . The conferences focus was regional and supra-regional influences on the development of Latin script from late antiquity and the early medieval period to the beginning of modern times. The geographic area considered in the articles spans the Iberian Peninsula and Central Europe to Iceland. In their contributions, the authors have attempted to show the impact that not only local conditions but also European cultural and intellectual centres had on the development of script in the individual geographic areas. The contributions examining book illumination are related. A further article deals with a unique Carolingian binding technique and another gives a general survey of the local and supra-regional impact on epigraphy.
