Resumen del Libro

As he himself likes to say, Alvaro Valverde (Plasencia, 1959) is a schoolteacher, although lately he has been managing institutional cultural programmes and has also been president of the Extremenian Writers Association and co-founder of the journal Espaço/Espacio. Valverde has written the following poetry collections: Territorio (1985), A debida distancia (1993), El reino oscuro (1999), as well as several chapbooks: Sombra de la memoria, Lugar del elogio, Aeróvoro, Los marinos inmóviles, Sur and Lugares de otoño. He has also written the novels Las murallas del mundo (2000) and Alguien que no existe (2005), a selection of articles entitled El lector invisible (2001) and the travelogue Lejos de aquí (2004). His work has been honoured with the Fundación Loewe Award (1991), Ciudad de Córdoba Award (1993) and Extremadura a la Creación Award (2001). This volume presents poems from the La Generación de los 80 anthology and the poetry collections entitled Las aguas detenidas (1988), Una oculta razón (1991), Ensayando círculos (1995) Mecánica terrestre (2002) and the unpublished Imaginario, as well as other, also unpublished poems.
