Manuel López Jurado (Seville 1942) is a poet, prose writer, literary critic and translator. He has been honored with major literary prizes in Spain and abroad, both for his narrative and poetic work. Among his books stand out País de invierno (Adonais, 1992), Música y nieve (Premio Jaén, 1992), La ciudadela (Prize Alcalá de Henares, 1993), Manuscritos de Berlín (Premio Juan Alcaide, 1993), El viajero en el desierto (Arga Award, Pamiela 1993), Poemas de Ginebra (Tiflos Award 1993), El cantor de Boleros (Esquío Award, 1995), Tango del amor extranjero (Ernestina Champourcín Award, 1998), Descripciones y olvidos (Award of the City of Ronda, 2002), El desembarco de la dama (Laureá Mela Award, 2004), Oratorio de Gaza (Ángaro Award, 2004), El invitado incómodo (Award of the City of Palma – Rubén Darío, 2004) and La luz es una espada (International Award of Poetry Miguel Hernández – Community of Valencia, 2005). His poems and stories have appeared in several Spanish and Swiss anthologies, and have been translated into French, German, Italian, Arabic and Braille.
