Lugar a dudas mocks those with little power, those with great power, and those who desperately wish to have power. There is the fat secretary who files her nails and works hard at not working, the policeman who claims that the peoples money was never in better hands than his, the politician who is both haughty and submissive, and the ridiculous cast of characters who inhabit the sentimental world of Coyoacan and the ostentatious world of Monterrey. If we wish to awaken from the nightmare created by the endless stupidity that surrounds us, the author suggests that we do so with an ironic smile, but always going into battle backed up by the moral ammunition of literature, music, and poetry.
