Resumen del Libro
A circular letter to the missions at San Carlos [Carmel], San Antonio [Fort Hunter Liggett], San Luis Obispo, San Buenaventura [Ventura], San Gabriel, San Juan Capistrano, and San Diego informing them of the death of Fr. José Antonio de Murguía, head of Mission Santa Clara (and its architect), on May 11, 1784. The death occurred four days before the dedication of Mission Santa Clara on May 15, 1784. Father Serra explains that Father Murguía was bed-ridden with a fever beginning on May 3 and that he, Father Serra, left Mission Santa Clara on the 4th, en route to San Francisco. He instructs the mission on the masses to be said for their late colleague.
