This book offers the first critical analysis of the study of narrative literature written by women from the Dominican Republic during the past fifteen years. Beginning by tracing the history of Dominican women writers from the nineteenth century to the present, the study then moves on to an analysis of the construction of space and identity in the works of these authors. Opening the door to researching this new generation of Dominican women novelists, this work makes significant contributions to the fields of Caribbean and womens studies.
