The quality of death registration data obtained from vital statistics registers in Colombia between 1970 and 1977 is evaluated. The extent and character of under-registration in the individual departments of the country are identified. Adjusted data are used to estimate the level and structure of mortality in 1973, 1975, and 1977 according to sex, age, and cause of death, and projections are made to 1982. Tables and graphs provide data for the separate regions of the country on deaths by month of registration and adjusted estimates of deaths by age group. (Annotation)
