During the Cuban Revolution, theatre was used to identify specific social problems and also to search for solutions within the structure of the socialist system. Jose Trianas theatre is part of Cuban theatres new identity, as he explores the essence of what it means to be Cuban during the Revolution. This book examines Trianas assessment of the violent and emotional behavior of the human being caught in the Revolutionary movement, and provides insight into his contextualization of Cuban national identity.
