Resumen del Libro
The essays in this volume focus on the standing of Jorge Luis Borges in the world of letters at the turn of the century, and re-evaluate his position in light of recent academic trends and criticism. Foremost in this endeavor is the bid to resuscitate Borges within the turbulent Argentina of his time. Contributors re-examine Borgess relationship to the various political movements and military regimes in Argentina and abroad, Latin American history and the idea of the epic, post-modernity and two generations of South American writers, the Spanish Baroque tradition, and translation as an encounter with both the other and the self.
