Resumen del Libro
This publication accounts for the origin and development of this type of memorial ceremonies, from its initial simplicity to the symbolic and artistic complexity of the mound, which particularly include allegorical death-related programs. Research focuses on the ceremonies organized in Lima that commemorated the death of three Spanish queens: Margarita of Austria, wife of Felipe III (1584-1611), Isabel de Borbon, Consort of Felipe IV (1602-1644), and Mariana de Austria-Estiria, the second wife of Felipe IV (1635-1696). The nature of these tributes involved feelings of greater closeness and sympathy, which were reflected in the moral and virtuosos iconographic motifs that were representative of the qualities of the queens during their lives.
