Resumen del Libro

Illustrations and illuminations often are a source of historical information for the student of art as well as history. This is a bilingual (English/Spanish) summary of findings about the miniatures that are in a collection that belonged to Alfonso V, king of Argon, now housed in the Historical Library at the University of Valencia, Spain. The time period (15th c.) is fascinating in that Alfonso had conquered Naples. The books came to Valencia with Duke Ferdinand of Calabria when he fled the Italian city after France invaded the country later in the century. The study is of the pigments in the miniatures from an important group of codices in Alfonso s collection. (Harvard University Art Museums, co-published with the Polytechnic University of Valencia)
