A historical study of all the priests epigraphically recorded in the Roman provinces of Baetica and the two Mauretanias, from the reign of Augustus up to Diocletian. The study aims to contribute to the knowledge of religious, soical and political organisation. Introductory chapters on methodology, the historiography of the subject, and basic concepts, are followed by chapters on the records, recruitment and activities of the different priesthoods, and a comparative assessment of the three provinces. The rest of the volume comprises epi- and prosopographic corpuses, bibliography and index.
