Chapters include an average of 60 explanatory footnotes in modern Spanish, clarifying socio-historical, literary, mythological, and biblical allusions. Up to three synonyms are offered in modern Spanish for difficult vocabulary (e.g., pergenio: traza, disposicion, apariencia), on the premise that the student will recognize at least one of the equivalents while the other(s) serve to build vocabulary.
