Resumen del Libro

The main objetive of this research was to study the effects of the pesticide Malathion on the survival of three instars (nauplius, metanauplius IV, and sub-adult) from three populations of the brine shrimp artemia. The populations used were Artemia franciscana from the Great Salt Lake in Utah (U.S.A.) (GSL), the A. franciscana population from Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico (CRPR) and the letraploid Artemia partenogenetica population from Turkmenistan, Russia (APAR). Data were analyzed using the Sigma Stat 3.1 and Sigma Plot 9.0 sofware packages. The results suggest that survival of diplod populations, after an exposure to the experimental series of concentrations of Malathion used in this study, was very similar to that of the tetraploid population (A. partenogenetica) only when considering the naupliar and metanaupliar IV instar at concentrations
