BASIC COMPETENCES. Toward a new educational paradigm – Starting from the presentation of the basic competences in the documents emanating from the Organic Law of Education (LOE, 2006), the book takes us through the international organisms that have been in charge of the topic of competences and through the work of those experts that have intervened in the clarification of its choice and contents, to find the genesis of the eight basic competences present in the Law. Once the term is explained in its educational sense, the book is centered on the understanding of each one of the competences and its interrelation, a very important point in trying to understand what type of person this group of competences presents and its acceptance in the society which receives it, with its new challenges. An interesting aspect of the book is the close link between competences and the context and the best way of proceeding so as to make effective the mobilization of knowledge and the transfer of learning, illustrated in the book with numerous suggestions, activities and resources. Finally, the programming of the stages is attended to, including the competences among other curricular elements.
