Resumen del Libro

World War One, March, 1916. Joseph Reavley is badly wounded trying to rescue one of his fellow soldiers. He is sent home to Cambridgeshire, where Joseph faces a slow, painful recovery, along with his troubled war experiences. The unexpected visit of an old friend, who talks about an invention that could neutralize the Germans submarines devastating effects, and the assassination of one of the scientifics involved on the research a few days later, proves that someone is secretly revealing classified information to the enemy.
