Resumen del Libro

This dissertations goal is to examine the poetics of Cesar Vallejo and Blanca Varela, two of the most important and well-known poets in Peruvian literature. By examining Vallejos Trilce (1922) and Varelas Donde todo termina abre las alas (2001), I draw a rhizomic connection between these writers literary work. Comparing these poets work through the topics of polyphony, the human body, and memory, expands the understanding of each ones poetic universe. This investigation also shows that aside from the rhizomic connection, these bards authenticity and originality remain unquestionable. The theoretical framework of Mijaiil Mijailovich Bajtin, Sigmund Freud, Carl G. Jung, and Julia Kristeva allow me to penetrate vertically the lyrical world of these writers to bring out a new perspective on their literary production.
