Alejandro Rossi, a Mexican writer and philosopher originally from Italy, was awarded the 2006 Xavier Villaurrutia Award by Writers to a Writer for his book Eden. Vida imaginada, a novelized autobiography that tells the detailed story of his childhood and early youth: time spent in his birthplace of Florence, and in Rome, Caracas and Buenos Aire: Numerous moves and journeys meant new beginnings and adjustments in every sense. He writes about his family life, and about the friendships which, though interrupted or cut short by moves, were crucial to subsequent events and decisians. There was the war, so near and yet so far away, and his first love.
