The book offers a general panoramic view of the different types of settlements, architecture and territorial space management of the societies that lived in the central Andean region, from the first hunters-gatherers to the Inca Empire, presenting a documented study the exceptional urban and architectonic patrimony of Pre-Columbian Peru. The main objective of the study is to define the origin, evolution and development of the urban phenomena in the central Andes during Pre-Hispanic times. The author identifies for each time period, representative cases that illustrate the historic-cultural development through the most significant urban and architectural expressions. In parallel the author examines the diversity of the process of the urban development in the diverse regions of ancient Peru.
