The purpose of this thesis is to show the difficulties and hardships that Latin-American immigrants are faced with once they are established in the United States. By using two different sources such as…y no se lo trago la tierra/And The Earth Did Not Devour Him, a novel written by Tomas Rivera and the movie The city/La ciudad directed by David Riker, one will feel the strength that both Rivera and Riker wanted to show about Latin American immigrants. This analysis will lead us to realize how much power this victimized group possessed in order to keep fighting for their dreams in a foreign land.
