Father Puigjane, a Franciscan monk, became involved with the Movimiento Todos para la Patria. The group started out doing charitable works in the slums, but was eventually was taken over by ex-guerrillas. In Jan. 1989 some of its members attacked the La Tabla army base. Although Puigjane was not among them, he was arrested, tried, and convicted. His lawyer claims he was railroaded because of his attachment to liberation theology –Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 57.
