First half (by Albáonico) deals with Italian presence in the Americas as projected by cultural images and individual personalities from Columbus to Mussolini to Valentino. Second half, by Rosoli, is an historical account of Italian immigration emphasizing policies of the Italian government and condition of Italian communities in the US, Argentina, and Brazil. Although lacking footnotes, authors bibliographical essay is helpful –Handbook of Latin American Studies, v. 58.
