Resumen del Libro

Once the liberals won the battle against the conservatives and the French Intervention, the Generation of the Reform had to win the battle for the minds and hearts of the Mexican people, to unify them and build anew the nation and the Republic. To win minds and hearts around the postulates of the Reform, History had to be reinterpreted from a liberal and nationalistic perspective, and be taught to the people. To unify the Mexican people, it was necessary to identify them with their country, with their History, with their heroes, and with the ideals of the Restoration, which were in line with the liberal and democratic national republican utopia. Ignacio Manuel Altamirano was the leader of the liberal and pedagogic historicist nationalism. Vicente Riva Palacio was his disciple, and the achiever of said policy and pedagogy through his novels, particularly Monja y casada, and Martin Garatuza.
