Resumen del Libro

The published papers presented during the 1st International Congress and 4th Ibero American Meeting for the Evaluation and Administration of Cemeteries and Funeral Art held in 2004 in UAM – Xochimilco. The papers explore funerary art, constructions, traditions and histories still present in the collective memory of the Mexicans, particularly in the rural areas. The book is divided in two sections: Catrina discusses the intangible patrimony of death, burial sites and cultural expressions derived from the Mesoamerican cosmovision. A second part Sepulcro reviews concrete cases that document the historic, artistic, social, symbolic and urban architecture of cemeteries.
