Resumen del Libro

Carlos Manuel de Cespedes: de Yara a San Lorenzo is a major contribution for getting to know the man Cubans consider the Father of the Nation for starting the fight for independence in 1868. The book is the product of deep research and points out many relevant facts, many of them unpublished until now and others lesser known that shed light on the struggle for Cuban independence and Cuban history as a whole. Cespedes= displacement was unfortunately a painful fact of much significance for the Cuban revolution because it laid the foundation for future divisions imposed by the looming presence of military forces. The book is enriched by an extensive bibliography of a dozen works published before 1895 by contemporaries of those events. Also included are numerous historical works on these subjects published in Cuba before January 1959, as well as many published after Castro reached power, by historians living in Cuba and in exile.
