DivAlejandro de Humboldt was a naturalist, geologist, mineralogist, astronomer, explorer, seismologist, and demographer. He studyied at the School of Mines of Freiberg and worked in the mining department of the Prussian government. For 30 years he worked in South and Central America before settling in Paris, where he compiled and published the materials collected on his expedition in 30 volumes (Viaje a las regiones equinocciales del Nuevo Continente). Humboldt is considered one of the last great members of the Enlightenment./div
